About Dan

Dan was born in 1964 in Southern California. His family moved to Gladstone, Oregon in 1977 where they continue to call it their hometown. In 1982, upon graduation from Gladstone High School, Dan began his career as an auto mechanic along side his father when they purchased and opened Cooke’s Brake Service in Southeast Portland. Dan has worked there, along with his father, brothers, sister, and nephew for the past 32 years, 6 days a week. He is now the president of this successful family business.

Dan and his wife of 28 years enjoy living and raising their only daughter in Dan’s hometown of Gladstone.  Dan’s wife and daughter devote their lives to working in non-profits.  Dan’s daughter volunteers as a high school coach for their beloved Gladstone School District. A commitment to serving and volunteering within their own community is emerging as a family lifestyle. What makes Dan’s family story unique, is that their entire extended family (parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc.) all reside in Gladstone and maintain a close relationship.

Dan has also served as a career volunteer fireman in Gladstone since 1987.  He has twice been elected by his peers as the President of the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department. Dan maintains Dive Rescue Specialist Certifications to serve the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium. For the past 29 years, he has faithfully served the residents of Gladstone, no matter the call nor the time of day. Serving the community in which he lives has been Dan’s greatest pleasure.

For years, Dan and his colleagues have witnessed many tragic accidents involving members of their own communities. His brotherhood within the Fire Department has been a strong support system for the trials these accidents have brought to their daily lives. This brotherhood has grown weary of treating the symptoms and are now determined to treating the cause; and this is how FFADD was born.
